Shell & tube exchangers · Pass partitions · Made to drawing · IndiaHeat Exchanger Gaskets
Channel, girth and floating-head gaskets with pass partition ribs, made to your exchanger drawing. Double jacketed, kammprofile or spiral wound, chosen for the joint, not for the price list.

Three constructions. One exchanger.
All three can carry welded or integral pass partition ribs. The right one depends on bolt load, flange finish and how hard the unit cycles.

Double jacketed
Graphite or non-asbestos filler fully enclosed in a soft iron, stainless or copper jacket. The economical standard for TEMA channel and girth joints.
Most specified
Kammprofile
Grooved solid metal core with graphite or PTFE facing. Seals at low seating stress and is the usual upgrade when jacketed gaskets leak.
Problem joints
Spiral wound
Spiral wound with inner or outer ring and partition ribs. Resilient under thermal cycling on well-finished girth flanges.
Thermal cycling
Large diameter
Single-piece rings up to exchanger and vessel sizes, crated flat with bubble wrap so they arrive true and undamaged.
Crated flatExchanger gaskets from our works.
Real JaySeal heat exchanger gaskets, made to customer drawings and packed for dispatch.

Shutdown-ready, drawing-true.
Refineries and fertiliser plants call us when the exchanger is open and the clock is running.

Made to your drawing
Rib layout, bolt circle and dimensions taken from your exchanger drawing or the old gasket.

Upgrade leaking joints
Where a jacketed gasket keeps leaking, a kammprofile of the same footprint usually fixes it.

Shutdown delivery
Urgent supply during plant shutdowns, with third-party inspection when required.

Kammprofile vs double jacketed vs spiral wound.
A quick guide for exchanger joints. For a final choice we look at your drawing, bolt load and service conditions.
Which gasket for which heat exchanger joint
| Property | Double jacketed | Kammprofile | Spiral wound (JHTX) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seating stress needed | High | Low | Medium |
| Thermal cycling | Fair | Very good | Very good |
| Narrow or damaged flange faces | Good | Very good | Needs good finish |
| Pass partition ribs | Integral | Welded ribs | Welded ribs |
| Reuse at shutdown | No | Core can be re-faced | No |
| Relative cost | Lowest | Higher | Medium |
| Best for | Standard TEMA joints | Joints where jacketed gaskets leak | Cycling girth flanges |

Heat exchanger gaskets, answered.
Which gasket is best for a shell and tube heat exchanger?
Double jacketed gaskets are the economical standard for TEMA joints. Kammprofile gaskets seal at lower bolt load and handle thermal cycling better, so they are the usual upgrade for joints that leak. Spiral wound gaskets with ribs suit cycling girth flanges with a good finish.
Kammprofile or double jacketed for a heat exchanger?
Kammprofile seals at a lower seating stress, copes better with temperature swings and its core can often be re-faced at the next shutdown. Double jacketed costs less and is fine for steady, standard joints.
What is a pass partition rib?
A bar across the gasket that seals the partition plate in the exchanger channel, so the tube-side fluid makes the designed number of passes. Ribs can be integral (jacketed) or welded (kammprofile and spiral wound).
Can you make a gasket from the old one or a drawing?
Yes. Send the exchanger drawing, or the old gasket with its outer and inner diameter, rib layout and thickness, plus the fluid, temperature and pressure.
Do you supply during plant shutdowns?
Yes. We regularly supply exchanger gaskets on urgent shutdown schedules for refineries and process plants, with third-party inspection when required.
