Jay Gaskets manufactures spiral wound gaskets under the JaySeal brand at our works in Vasai East, Mumbai. Each gasket is made from a specially profiled metal strip and a soft filler strip (graphite / Grafoil, PTFE, ceramic and others), wound together in a continuous concentric spiral under constant tension. The inner and outer diameters are reinforced with several spot-welded plies of metal only.
The profiled metal strip acts like a spring. That elasticity is what lets a spiral wound gasket keep sealing through fluctuating pressure and temperature and large temperature swings, and it tolerates flange faces that are lightly pitted or slightly distorted.

Shapes
Circular gaskets are standard. We also make oval and oblong spiral wound gaskets, and spiral wound gaskets combined with jacketed gaskets for the internal pass-partition shapes of heat exchangers.
